HISTORY OF THE CINCINNATI RED ROOTERS'
In the fall of 1956, the Cincinnati Reds were in a “neck and neck” race with the Milwaukee Braves for the National League Pennant. Waite Hoyt, Hall of Fame pitcher and Reds Radio Broadcaster, urged his friend Barney Rapp to promote a fan trip to Milwaukee to help root the Reds on to victory. Over 700 people traveled by train to cheer on their team. The Reds didn’t win the pennant; however, this was the beginning of the Red Rooters’ Club. Now celebrating our 52nd anniversary, under the leadership of Barney Rapp, Ruby Wright Rapp, Jim Mogan, Herb Reisenfeld and Joel Pieper, the Red Rooters’ Club has taken Reds fans all over the world including every National League city, several American League cities, Japan, Europe, etc.. Over 100,000 Rooters have traveled to root the Reds over the last 52 years. We are pleased to continue the tradition!
